CVU Membership Terms & Conditions

Thank you for becoming a member of the Council on Vertical Urbanism (CVU). By purchasing or renewing a CVU membership, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to these Membership Terms & Conditions.

Membership Term

CVU memberships operate on a calendar-year basis, from January 1 through December 31, regardless of the date of purchase.

Membership benefits begin upon payment and remain active through the applicable membership term.

Annual membership renewals are invoiced each October for the following calendar year.

Membership Pricing & Proration

Membership dues are prorated for new members joining during the year as follows:

Join Period

Membership Fee

January – June

100% of annual membership dues

July – September

50% of annual membership dues plus the following calendar year's membership dues

October – December

25% of annual membership dues plus the following calendar year's membership dues

Members joining during the second half of the year (July–December) receive membership for the remainder of the current year and the entire following calendar year.

Renewing members are billed the full annual membership rate for the upcoming calendar year.

Renewal & Billing

Membership renewals are issued annually beginning in October.

Invoices are due according to the payment terms provided on the invoice. Membership benefits may be suspended or terminated if payment is not received by the stated due date.

CVU reserves the right to modify membership dues or categories for future membership years. Any changes will be communicated prior to the renewal period.

Refund Policy

All membership purchases are final.

Because membership benefits become available immediately upon activation, CVU does not provide refunds, credits, or partial refunds for membership dues after a membership has been purchased or renewed.

This policy applies regardless of:

  • Voluntary cancellation by the member;

  • Changes in employment or organizational affiliation;

  • Changes in participation level or use of member benefits; or

  • Any other circumstance after membership activation.

Membership Benefits

Membership benefits are available only during an active membership term and may include, depending on membership category:

  • Access to CVU member resources and publications;

  • Registration discounts for eligible conferences and events (varies by level);

  • Access to the ENGAGE member community;

  • Research library access;

  • Committee and chapter participation opportunities;

  • Other benefits where applicable.

Benefits are subject to change at the discretion of CVU.

Member Responsibilities

Members agree to:

  • Provide accurate and current contact and billing information;

  • Contribute to the Skyscraper Center Database by sharing verified building information and images to enhance projects, when possible;
  • Maintain appropriate professional conduct when participating in CVU programs, events, committees, chapters, and online communities;

  • Comply with all applicable CVU policies, including any event, community, or code of conduct policies.

CVU reserves the right to suspend or terminate membership for conduct inconsistent with its mission or policies. Membership dues remain non-refundable.

Membership Transferability

Organizational memberships are issued to a single legal entity and are brand-based. Membership benefits apply only to the organization identified on the membership record and may not be shared, extended, or transferred to affiliated companies, subsidiaries, parent companies, sister companies, joint ventures, or other entities that maintain a separate brand identity.

Organizations may update their designated member representatives in accordance with the benefits included in their membership category; however, ownership of the membership remains with the original member organization and may not be transferred to another entity without the prior written approval of CVU.

CVU reserves the right to determine whether organizations qualify as separate entities for membership purposes and may require separate memberships when affiliated organizations operate under distinct brands or corporate identities.

Changes to Membership Terms

CVU reserves the right to update these Membership Terms & Conditions at any time. The most current version will be published on the CVU website and will apply to all new memberships and renewals after its effective date.
